watch at your own risk

I found this (via Realigned Rain) truly frightening. I mean, I knew this existed, but....

The thing is that she looks so ... ordinary, blah, whatever at the beginning. If I saw her on the bus, I wouldn't even look twice. She looks like someone who doesn't really care much about her appearance. And after she's "made up," she looks traditionally "pretty," OK. But they have to photoshop her to make her even "better."

I feel sick.

That's just messed up.

Do you remember the brouhaha about a year ago over the photoshopped magazine cover of Faith Hill? Very disturbing.

And how about Valerie Bertinelli on the cover of People magazine this week? Again, not real. (BTW, check out www.mamarazzi.org today for some commentary on that very topic.)

I simply do not trust any photo I see in a magazine. Not even home photos, because friends of ours had their home photographed for a major magazine and they told me about how much staging goes on before the photo shoot.
